The Anguilla Red Cross (ARC) joins with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent movement to celebrate International Red Cross Day on the 8th May 2023 under the theme Everything we do comes #fromtheheart.
Today, as we remember the work started by our founder Henry Dunant in 1863, we are happy to proclaim our commitment to Volunteerism as a work of heart. Throughout the 80 plus years that the Anguilla Red Cross has been in existence our Volunteers continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that the fundamental principles of the movement are upheld and enforced. We are therefore especially proud to recognise the work of the volunteers, our stakeholders and partners who remain committed to ensuring that we raise the banners of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality: these seven Fundamental Principles sum up the Movement’s ethics and are at the core of our approach to helping people in need.
This year in commemoration of this day the Anguilla Red Cross will be launching its Community Friendly Connections programmes were we continue to spread the heart of Kindness to all who are in need. On the 13th of May, 2023 we will be hosting a FREE Health Fair and Blood Donative Drive at the Island Harbour Ball Field. This Community Friendly Connection will offer Free Testing for everyone, Bouncing Castle for the Kids and amazing styles of our RC Boutique. The event will commence at 10am and end at 1pm. All are invited to join us for this fun filled day.
Similarly in collaboration with the Education Department, Anguilla National Trust and the Commonwealth Committee we will be hosting a Hike and Beach Cleanup, Run for Red Relay and our volunteers will be visiting the schools to continue our Being Aware and Ready Campaign (BAR Hopping) to help students to better prepare to respond to any disaster respectively. We therefore invite you to follow us on our Facebook page for more highlights as we celebrate the work that we do.
So in Celebration of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day we salute every person who continues to make the idea of the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement in Anguilla and around the globe a reality. We are committed to ensuring that no vulnerable person is left behind. We applaud all our volunteers and we sound the alarm of solidarity and unity as we celebrate this day. Happy Red Cross and Red Crescent Day!
We invite you to join in this fight for humanity. Come Volunteer with the Anguilla Red Cross. #fromtheheart
